Over 100 Years of Dedicated Service
to the Stony Brook Community
With the winter storm season underway, the Stony Brook Fire Department asks residents to keep your nearest hydrant clear of snow and ice. The hydrants are there for quick and easy water supply to our apparatus in the event of a fire. Minimally, make sure the hydrant is cleared of snow enough to be visible from the street. Even better, clear the snow three feet all around the hydrant so firefighters have enough room to connect a hose.
The Stony Brook Fire Department protects the historic community of Stony Brook, which is located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York.
Our duty and goals are to provide the highest level of fire protection and emergency medical services to the residents of the Stony Brook Fire District.
The entire membership of the Stony Brook Fire Department are volunteers, and we are dedicated to protect the lives, property, and businesses within our boundaries. We strongly believe in fire prevention and education as valuable tools. These programs assist us in preventing fires and injuries to our residents, who have entrusted their personal safety and homes to us.
We also are ready, willing, and trained to extend our services to our neighboring districts should they require our assistance under mutual aid policies.
