SBFD Takes Delivery of a Water Rescue Boat
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Webmaster Ron Gilone
September 10, 2017

Stony Brook Fire Department has purchased a rescue boat from the Port Jefferson Fire Department.

The boat is a 27 foot Boston Whaler powered by twin 225 HP Mercury outboards. It is equipped with
radar, deck mounted water cannon, forward spotlights, and many other features not present in our old boat.

The boat, which will be renamed 5A3-26, is currently at Station 2 where it is being outfitted. The boat will then
be placed in service on the courtesy dock of the Stony Brook Yacht Club.

UPDATE: The boat has been renamed and is in the water. Training exercises are in process.
